About Being

What Being is

Being is a daily wisdom app. It publishes one short piece of practical writing every morning, between 100 and 150 words, ending in a single action the reader can complete that day. Reading it takes under two minutes.

Alongside the daily piece, Being publishes book summaries and life insights. There are currently 90 daily pieces, 12 book summaries and 28 life insights. Daily publishing began on 1 September 2026.

Being works in a web browser and installs to a phone’s home screen, where it works offline. An Android version is in progress. The daily piece is free and will remain free.

Who it is for

Being is written for faith-anchored professionals, students, parents and entrepreneurs in Nigeria and the African diaspora, broadly between 22 and 45 years old.

That audience shapes the writing rather than decorating it. Money is discussed in naira. Examples assume conditions that actually apply — rent demanded a year in advance, school fees landing in the same month, an unpredictable currency, and the particular weight of being the first person in a family to do something.

What Acts 17:28 has to do with it

The name comes from Acts 17:28 — “In him we live and move and have our being.” The verse is the origin of the word Being in the app’s name.

It is there as a statement about where a life is grounded: we are not accidents, and we are not defined by our productivity or our failures. Roughly one piece in four is explicitly rooted in faith. The remaining three are practical and require no faith commitment to be useful. Being does not proof-text, does not preach prosperity, and does not use guilt to motivate.

How the daily content works

Being publishes on a global calendar. Every reader worldwide sees the same piece on the same calendar date, resolved in their own timezone, so a reader in Auckland moves to the next day before a reader in Lagos does.

There is no day number and no streak pressure attached to the content. A reader who misses a day has not fallen behind and is not told they have. The seven most recent days stay on the home screen; everything older remains readable through life insights, book summaries and search.

Saved pieces and journal entries are stored on the reader’s own device and are never sent to a server. See the privacy policy for what that means in practice.
